Cond. ആയാൽ, ആകിൽ if it be. ആയിൽ അ വ്വണ്ണം എന്നു മൊഴിന്താൻ RC. “if so, be it so.” അതിൽ ഒന്നു രണ്ടാകിലാം VCh. there may be one or two (generally ആകിലും ആം). Concessive ആയാലും ആകിലും though it be. ഒന്നാകിലും one at least. ഏവരാകിലും whoso- ever. ‍സത്താകിലും അസത്താകിലും whether good or bad. ആൻ Cond. & Cone, (from T. ആയിൻ if it be) മറ്റാൎക്കാൻ AR. to any one else. എന്തുവാൻ whatever it be. എന്നു ചൊല്ലീടാമോവാൻ CG. can one ever say?

ആനും (= ആകിലും) f. i. കോട്ടയിൽ എങ്ങാനും Bhr. somewhere about the fort. മണികൂടാ തെ പോയാകിൽ വന്നാനും എന്നൊരു നിൎണ്ണ യം ഉണ്ടെനിക്കു CG. (= വരികയായിരുന്നു). An incorrect adj. part. is formed from ആൻ f. i. എന്താണ്ടൊരുത്തൻ what sort of man? adj. part. ആകുന്ന, ആയ (po. ആകിയ), ആം, ആവ് 1. he who is ചേരമാൻപെരുമാളാ കുന്ന രാജാവ് KU. the king Ch P. Thus many appositions അധിപനാകിയ ദേവൻ, വൃദ്ധനായിട്ടുളള വൎത്തകൻ, മൂൎഖരാവൊരസു രർ, ശുഭമാംവണ്ണം, ഒന്നാം the first, etc. 2. ആയവൻ he, that one, ആയതു രണ്ടും those two. ആയവറ്റിന്മദ്ധ്യേ Bhr. between them, ആയതുകൊണ്ടു therefore. 3. after nouns they serve as a kind of definite article കലിമൂൎഖനാമവൻ Bhr. the rogue Cali. ദുഷ്ട നായവൻ the wicked; esp. the neuter ന മ്മുടെ പ്രാണങ്ങളായതോ പോയല്ലോ CG. as for our life, that is already gone. പി താവും ജനനിയായതും രഘുവരൻ KR. Rāma is to me f. & m. രാജാവായതു തനിക്കീശ്വ രൻ VC. the king is our Lord. 4. അവതു, ആവിതു (before a sentence) is as follows f. i. കണ്ണൻ കണ്ടു കാൎയ്യമാവതു (heading of letters) Caṇṇan is herewith addressed to the following purpose. adv. part, ആയി 1. forms adverbs, as നന്നാ യി well. 2. as, രാമനായ്ക്കാണുന്നു കാണുന്നത് ഒക്കയും KR 3. all I see seems to me Rāma, I see him everywhere. അവരെ ദുഃഖിത ന്മാരായി കണ്ടു Bhr. saw them grieved (= എ ന്നു) വേദജ്ഞന്മാരെ സഭാവാസികളായി ക ല്പിക്കേണം VyM. (= എന്നു, ആക്കി, so as to be). വേദങ്ങളെ നാലായി പകത്തു Bhr. അരചനായി വാഴിച്ചു CG. ചെയ്തതായി സ മ്മതിച്ചു MR. The future has by itself the meaning of possi- bility, which is then transferred to the whole verb, ചെയ്യാം I will do, may do. ആം എങ്കിൽ if possible. ആമല്ല cannot. ആൎക്കും പൊറുക്കാ വല്ല GP.; ആകുംവണ്ണം, ആകുമ്പോലെ TR. ആകുന്നേടത്തോളം, ആവിടത്തോളം as far as possible. — in the past: കടക്കുമതിനായുതില്ല RC. could not pass. ഒരുവണ്ണം ആയതു ചെയ്തു ഞാൻ Bhr. did somehow whatever was possible. പേ പറഞ്ഞീടിനാൾ ആയവണ്ണം CG. — pres. ആകുന്നതാകിൽ CG. if possible. — chiefly with Dat. & 2nd adv. part. നമുക്കെടുക്കാം, we can take up, അവൎക്കെടുക്കാവോളം, വാഴ്ത്തുവാൻ ആ വോർ ഇല്ല, CG. none able to praise, ശേഷം ചൊല‌്വാൻ പിന്നേ ആം Bhr. പറവതിനാൎക്കു മാമല്ല Bhr. (= മതിയാവു) ഇറയേ വലിക്കാവു prov. pull merely the eaves! എന്നതേ പറയാവു Mud. എന്നേ പറയാവു it must be said, cannot but be confessed. — chiefly with the 1st adv. part, of Verbs വന്നേ ആവു he must come, വന്നാവു may he come, oh that he came! കണ്ടുതാവു Anj. വന്നാവൂതെന്നു കൊതിച്ചു CG. wished that he might come; also with Inf. നല്ല മനസ്സിനെ കൈക്കൊൾ്കേയാവു ദ യാനിധേ PP. may you! IV. It serves to form Compound Verbs: 1.) with Nouns യാത്രയാക to set out, ഭേദമാക to be healed etc. similar to the S. compounds with ഭവിക്ക (ചെയ്ക is similarly used, corres- ponding with S. കരിക്ക). 2.) with Verbs, a.) rarely in the form of the Verbal Noun ending in അൽ (rather T.) കഥ ചൊല്ലലാം RC. അറിഞ്ഞീടലാം PT. ഇരിക്കലാം KU. (only with ആം). b.) in the form of the old Inf. ഭുജിക്കായി PT. came to eat, കാണാക be able to see, be- come visible കാണായ്വന്നു, ഇക്കാണായത് ഒക്കവേ, Bhr. (chiefly in a passive sense, compare മാനവന്മാരാൽ കാണപ്പെടുന്നതും കേൾക്കായതും സ്മരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നതും AR3. what is heard, can be heard) with Dat. എല്ലാ വൎക്കും കേൾക്കായി Bhr.
