I have great pleasure in associating myself with the publication of this useful work in its Malayalam grab. The object the author has in view in bringing out this translation is "to place before the Malayalam reading public a simple book dealing with the different organs of the human body and their functions in a style suited to the comprehension of our boys and girls". I have great pleasure in recording my testimony that he has succeeded in his attempt remarkably well. In my opinion this book will be found useful not merely to our boys and girls in general for whom it is primarily intended, but especially also to the students of the newly opened higher classes in the so-called Elementary schools of Travancore.
It has afforded me no small pleasure to watch the rapid growth of Malayalam literature during the last quarter of a century. But now not a day passes without hearing of a new publication in Malayalam and not a week passes without reading of a new Malayalam library being started somewhere. As for newspapers and magazines we are coming to have more of them than we can readily recall or enumerate. These are indeed happy signs
