of one or more branches of science. In fact this is a task they are eminently fitted to undertake and it is a duty that they own to their less cultured brothren that they should impose upon themselves such a responsibility. The example of Mr.Ekambaranathan the writer of this book, will, I hope, remind the graduates of Malabar of what is expected of them by their countrymen, or t all events of their well-wishers.
I congratulate Mr. Ekambaranathan on the publication of this book and express a hope that he will continue to use some portion of his spare time hereafter also to contribute what he can towards the enrichment of his Malayalam literature and the enlightenment of his Malayalam speaking countrymen by writing many more similar works popularising science in general. I wish him and his book every success.
