to consist in the fact that Soobramonia Iyer hasomitted a great deal of the prehistoric matter whichhas made Mi Sankoony Menon's otherwise valu-able History in English somewhat repugnant tomany a matter of fact reader. I have with much pleasure gone through Mr.Soobramonia Iyen's sketch of the History of Trivan-core, and am glad to say that the book exhibits con- .siderable labour and thought It is written in goodidiomatic Malayalam. The author has very wiselyconfined himself to stating facts and wherever hehas ventured to give his opinion he has been carefulto avoid extremes. I have no doubt that the bookwill be appreciated by the Travancore public. Theauthor has my best wishes.
