My dear Mr. Soobramonia Iyer,
I have been able to go through your Malayalam History of Travancore, with much pleasure. You have in closely following Mr. Shangoony menon, advisedly omitted all the dry and important por-tions of his work. You have more over, brought the history of this interesting 'model state, almost down to the present period. You must have evidently, expended a good deal of time and labour on it and deserve credit for what you have done. I have no hesitation your book will be very useful to the Malayalam reading publicat large and especially to the pupils of our vernacular schools as there is no other books ofits kind in the language. The only book we have on the subject, is a Malayalam trans-lation of Raja Sir. T Mathava Row's history of tworeigns- of their Highness Marthanda Vurma and Rama Vurma. Now we have, before us, in small compass almost a complete history of our country in our mother tongue. I wish you every success in your laudable attempt.
