PREFACE
The പുരാണകഥാ നിഘണ്ഡു which was published in 1899 has been out of print since some years. There having been a great demand for the book recently, a second edition of it was decided upon and I have availed myself of the opportunity to revise and considerably enlarge it by adding more than 800 new subjects bearing upon the Literatures, Customs and Stories of Southern India and especially of the Malayalam country. It is hoped that this would make it more useful as a work of reference. It has also been deemed necessary to change the title of the book so as to embrace the new subjects added.
