The report of Vallatta Shangra Menon Serishtadar
of Tenmalapooram Talook to the Tahseeldar
of that Talook.
According to the order issued to me from your office to insti-
tute an enquiry with reference to a report made by the Adhikari
of Kollengode Amsham to the effect that Chákoongal Ráman
Menon, an inhabitant of Vadavannoor Desham, attached to
that Amsham, has enjoyed for several years certain lands, not
included in the assessment register, without paying the Govern-
ment dues; and with reference to the counter Petition of the
said Ráman Menon denying the charge preferred against him
by the Adhikari, and directing me to measure the lands in
question and to forward an account of the same to your office
with my opinion on the subject, I have measured the lands in
the presence of the said Adhikari, the Mookhyastars and the
cultivators of the neighbouring lands, and have drawn out an
account, which is herewith submitted, with the signatures of
the persons above referred to.
From the investigation held by me and from an inspection
of the public accounts, I find that as stated in the Adhikari's
report the aforesaid Ráman Menon has for several years past
enjoyed the lands referred to without paying the Government
dues; that in the years 984 and 1004 / 1808, 9 1828,29 when the Government as-
sessments were made these lands either owing to the connivance
of the public servants or from an oversight were omitted in the
assessment accounts, and I submit that this circumstance
should be brought to the notice of the Collector in order that
the lands may be assessed.
