examined the complainant and P. Ráman whose attendance
was procured, and issued an order to Vencata Rámayan the sub-
officer to proceed to the spot and make enquiries into the
matter.
The sub-officer having accordingly proceeded to the place,
examined nine persons and having incorporated with the pro-
ceedings of the case a report made by the Kinashérri Amsham
Menon and Mookhiyastars forwarded the proceedings to me
with his report, which reached me on the 2nd. December last.
Having perused the record on the same day I examined C.
Chengaran who was then apprehended.
It will be observed from the proceedings that the 1st. and 2nd.
Defendants do not admit the charge. It is however clear that
the assertion of the complainant that robbers came to his house
is correct; and it appears that the Defendants are persons of
bad character.
The evidence however is insufficient to subject them to pu-
nishment and the complainant has stated that he has no Witness-
es consequently I have not caused the apprehension of V. Kelloo
and Chatoo but have dismissed the charge and released P.
Ráman and C. Chengaran who had been apprehended. I here-
with forward all the proceedings connected with the case for
your consideration.

of Curnum used on the Eastern caost. വിട്ടയക്കുന്നു to release, lit.
having let go, to send away, v. a. ഒന്നിക്കുന്നു to annex, to enclose, v. a.
