ഒരു ശൂദ്രൻ ഒരു കറുത്ത നായിനെ വളൎത്തിയിരുന്നു. അതി
നെ വെളുപ്പിക്കണം എന്ന ആഗ്രഹിച്ച പുഴയിൽ കൊണ്ടു
പൊയി ഏറിയ ദിവസം കുളിപ്പിച്ചകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ
അവൻ എത്ര തന്നെ പ്രയത്നം ചെയ്തിട്ടും നായ വെളുത്തില്ല.
അതുകൊണ്ട നാം അസാദ്ധ്യ വെലക്ക പൊകരുത.
7th. STORY.
A certain Sudra having a black dog, wished to make him
white, and taking him to the river, he continued to wash him
for many days, but notwithstanding all his endeavours, the
dog did not become white. Therefore we should not attempt
impossibilities.
ശൂദ്രൻ a sudra, s. m. കറുത്ത black, adj. നായിനെ a dog, acc.
sing. of നായ s. n. വളൎത്തിയിരുന്നു was keeping, nourishing, from
വളൎത്തുന്നു to bring up, to nourish, v. a. വെളുപ്പിക്കണം (I) must
make white from v. a. വെളുപ്പിക്കുന്നു to make white. ആഗ്രഹിച്ച
having wished, past part. of ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു to wish, desire, v. n. പു
