യി having taken, from കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്നു to take away, v. a. ഏറിയ
many, adj. കുളിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു was washing, from കുളിപ്പിക്കു
ന്നു to wash, vide Grammar para. 97. എത്ര തന്നെ how much soever.
ചെയ്തിട്ടും although (he) made. The addition of ട്ട and the particle ഉം
to the past tense of a verb gives the sense although so and so was done.
വെളുത്തില്ല did not become white, 3d p. sing. past tense neg. form of
വെളുക്കുന്നു to become white, v. n. അസാദ്ധ്യ impossible, adj. വെല
ക്ക to a business, dat. of വെല business, s. n. പൊകരുത must not go
or must not attempt, from പൊകുന്നു to go and അരുത must not, vide
Grammar para. 125.
൮ാം കഥ.
ഒരു കള്ളൻ ഒരു പട്ടണത്തെക്ക രാജാവായി അവന്റെ അ
ടുക്കൽ ഒരു കവി ശ്രെഷ്ഠൻ വന്ന അവനെ സ്തുതിച്ച ഏതാ
നും ശ്ലൊകങ്ങൾ ചൊല്ലി തനിക്ക ഏതെങ്കിലും ഒരു തിരുകൈ
നീട്ടം കൊടുപ്പിക്കെണമെന്ന ഉണൎത്തിച്ചു. അപ്പൊൾ ആ രാ
ജാവ തന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ഉള്ളവരെ നൊക്കി ആ കവിശ്രെഷ്ഠ
ന്റെ വസ്ത്രം പിടുങ്ങി അവനെ പറഞ്ഞയപ്പിൻ എന്ന കല്പി
ച്ചു. അവര അപ്രകാരം അവന്റെ വസ്ത്രം എടുത്ത അവനെ
വെളിയിൽ ഇറക്കി വിട്ടു. അതുകൊണ്ട നീചനായുള്ളവന്ന എ
ത്ര വലിയ അധികാരം വന്നാലും അവൻ തന്റെ നീച ബു
ദ്ധി വിടുകയില്ല.
8th. STORY.
A Poet came to a thief who had become king of a certain
city, and having recited some verses in his praise, requested
him to bestow upon him a reward. The king ordered some
persons who were near him, to strip of the Poet’s cloths, and
send him away. In obedience to which order, they took off
his cloths and turned him out. Therefore how great-so-ever an
elevation a low person may obtain, he will never relinquish his
bad propensities.
