ഞാൻ ഉത്തരം പറയാമെന്ന പറഞ്ഞു. ആ വിദ്വാൻ ൟ യു
ക്തിയുള്ള ഉത്തരം കെട്ട അവന്റെ ബുദ്ധിയിങ്കൽ ആശ്ചൎയ്യ
പ്പെട്ട അവൻ അപെക്ഷിച്ച പ്രകാരം നന്നായി വിദ്യ പഠി
പ്പിച്ചു. അതുകൊണ്ട ബുദ്ധിമാൻ ബാല്യത്തിങ്കലെ നിപുണ
ബുദ്ധിയെ പ്രകാശിപ്പിക്കും.
14th. STORY.
There lived at Conjeveram a learned man, who got his liveli-
hood by teaching a number of boys. One day a lad came to
him, and having expressed his desire to acquire knowledge,
begged him to instruct him in the arts and sciences. The learn-
ed man wishing to find out what sort of abilities the lad had,
asked him, where God was; The lad replied, I will answer
you, if you will first tell me where he is not. The sage, from
this sensible reply, thought highly of the boy’s understanding;
and according to his wishes, perfected him in his studies.
Thus, a wise man early announces a reflecting mind.
പുരം a city, s.n. കിടാവ a child, s. n. പഠിക്കുന്നു to learn. ആ
ശ desire, s. n. അപെക്ഷിക്കുന്നു to ask, request, v. a ദൈവം ഇ
ല്ലാത്തത എവിടെ where is the place where God is not. ദയവ favour,
s. n. പിന്നെ afterwards, adv. ഉത്തരം answer, s. n. യുക്തി fitness,
s. n. ആശ്ചൎയ്യപ്പെടുന്നു to be astonished, v. n. ബാല്യം infancy, s.
n. നിപുണ clever, adj. പ്രകാശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു to make shine, causal
form of v. n. പ്രകാശിക്കുന്നു to shine.
൧൫ാം കഥ.
അംഗദെശത്ത ഒരു രാജാവ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു അവന്റെ
അടുക്കൽ നിത്യവും ഒരു ജ്യൊതിഷക്കാരൻ വന്ന പൊയിക്കൊ
ണ്ടിരുന്നു. ഒരു നാൾ ആ രാജാവ ൟ ജ്യൊതിഷക്കാരനെ
നൊക്കി ഞാൻ ഇനി എത്ര കൊല്ലം ഇരിക്കും പറക എന്ന അ
രുളിചെയ്തു. തങ്ങൾ ഇനി രണ്ടു കൊല്ലമല്ലാതെ അധികം ഇ
രിക്ക ഇല്ലെന്ന അവൻ ഉണൎത്തിച്ചു. രാജാവ ൟ വാക്ക കെട്ട
വളരെ വ്യസനപ്പെട്ടു. അപ്പൊൾ രാജാവിന്റെ അരികെ ഉള്ള
മന്ത്രി ൟ വാക്ക കെട്ട ആ ജ്യൊതിഷക്കാരനെ നൊക്കി രാജാ
വ അവർകൾ രണ്ടു കൊല്ലമല്ലാതെ അധികം ഇരിക്ക ഇല്ലെ
ന്നു പറഞ്ഞുവെല്ലൊ നീ ഇനി എത്ര കൊല്ലം ഇരിക്കും എന്ന
