ലി ചൊദിച്ചു. അതിനെക്കുറിച്ച സംശയിക്കെണ്ടാ ഞാൻ തി
രിയെ വരുമെന്ന സത്യം ചെയ്യാമെന്ന ബ്രാഹ്മണൻ പറഞ്ഞു.
പുലി അതിന്ന സമ്മതിക്കയാൽ ആ ബ്രാഹ്മണൻ വിചാര
ത്തൊട കൂടി തന്റെ വീട്ടിലെക്ക പൊയി ആ മൂന്ന നാൾ
കൊണ്ട തന്റെ കാൎയ്യങ്ങളെ ഒതുക്കി തന്റെ ബന്ധുക്കളുമായി
ക്കണ്ട പറഞ്ഞ അവരൊട അനുവാദം വാങ്ങി പുലിയുടെ അ
ടുക്കലെക്ക താൻ വരുമെന്ന പറഞ്ഞ സ്ഥലത്ത സമയം തെ
റ്റാതെ ചെന്ന ചെൎന്നു. എന്നാറെ ആ പുലി അവന്റെ സ
ത്യത്തിങ്കൽ സന്തൊഷിച്ച അവനെ ഹിംസ ചെയ്യാതെ വീട്ടി
ലെക്കു പൊയിക്കൊള്ളുവാൻ അനുവദിച്ചു. അതുകൊണ്ട സ
ത്യവാദികളെ എല്ലാവരും എല്ലാസമയത്തും ഗണ്യമായി വിചാ
രിക്കും.
26th. STORY.
There lived at Dharapooram a Brahmin, who went one day
into the forest to gather some fruit and flowers. Just at that
time a tiger came there, which the Brahmin perceiving, became
very much afraid, and tried to make his escape. The tiger,
however, pursued and overtook him. In this predicament, the
Brahmin begged him to spare his life for three days, that he
might return home, settle his affairs and take leave of his family.
The tiger asked him, in the event of his not returning, what was
to be done. He replied, there was no fear, for he would take
his oath to return. The tiger having consented, he returned
home disconsolate, and after employing the three days in set-
tling his affairs and taking leave of his family, he arrived at
the place where he had appointed to meet the tiger, at the
prescribed time, who was so pleased at his veracity, that he
allowed him to depart uninjured. Thus a person who keeps
his word is always honoured.
