ആ. 1. The second letter of the Malayalim alphabet cor- responding to A long. The medial form of ആ, is ാ. 2. the indeclinable demonstrative pronoun that; as ആ മ നുഷ്യൻ, That man. This letter is also a Sanscrit particle prefixed to words, and denotes; 1. Diminution, (a little.) 2. limit inceptive, (from, from thence, or that time.) 3. limit conclusive, (until, unto, as far as.) Prefixed to San- scrit verbs it extends or reverses their meaning. ആ. 1.
