ആൎക്കും വെണ്ടാത്ത കുതിരയെ അവർ ഇവിടെ കൊണ്ടു
വന്നു.

സാധിക്കാത്തതിന്ന വെല ചെയ്യെണ്ടാ.
Bestow no labor on what cannot be effected.
ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തി ചെയ്ത കൊണ്ട ദൈവത്തെ കൊപിപ്പിക്കെ
ണ്ടാ.
Do not make God angry by doing evil.
When several of these verbs are required, verbal nouns may be used
with വെണ്ടാ; thus,
നീ വൃക്ഷത്തെൽ കരെറുകയും അതിന്റെ കൊമ്പുകളെ
വെട്ടുകയും വെണ്ടാ.
Neither ascend the tree, nor cut down the branches.
The form may be altered thus,
നീ അവിടെ പൊകെണ്ടാ അവനൊട സംസാരിക്കയും
വെണ്ടാ.
Neither go there, nor speak with him.
2nd. Of അല്ല.
ഞാൻ കള്ളൻ അല്ല. I am not a thief.
അത പച്ച നിറമുള്ളതാകുന്നുവൊ? അല്ല.
Is that a green colour? No.
ൟ ആൾ ആശാരിയൊ അല്ലയൊ?
Is this person a carpenter or not?
അവൻ അവരെ പഠിപ്പിച്ചത അവരുടെ പട്ടക്കാർ പ
ഠിപ്പിച്ചത പൊലെ അല്ല സത്യത്തിൻ പ്രകാരം അ
ത്രെ ആയിരുന്നത.
What he taught them was not like what their priests taught them,
but it was according to truth.
നല്ലതല്ലാത്ത ഗുണദൊഷം അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു.
He spake counsel that was not good.
Two or more negatives of this description in a sentence, are connected
by the particle ഉം; thus,
ആ തെങ്ങാ അത്ര നല്ലതല്ല അത്ര ചീത്തയുമല്ല.
That Cocoa-nut is not very good nor very bad.
പ്ലാം തടി ൟട്ടി തടി പൊലെ നല്ലതും ബലമുള്ളതുമല്ല.
Jack wood timber is neither so strong nor so good as Black wood.
