conveys an idea of continuation of state, or action from the past to the
present; or implies a previous knowledge of some future event, is generally
and elegantly rendered into Malayalim by this tense; as,
എള്ളിൽ നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്ന എണ്ണ പൊലെ ദൈവം ജഗ
ത്തിങ്കലെല്ലാടവും നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.
As the oil filleth the rape seed; so God filleth every part of the
world: or, as rape seed is full of oil so every part of the world
is full of God.
ൟ വസ്തുക്കളൊക്കയും നിങ്ങൾക്ക ആവശ്യമുള്ളവയാ
കുന്നു എന്ന നിങ്ങളുടെ സ്വൎഗ്ഗസ്ഥനായ പിതാവ
അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.
Your heavenly Father knoweth that all these things are necessary
for you.
അവൻ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. He is blessed.
അവൻ നല്ലവൻ ആകുന്നു എന്ന എല്ലാടവും പ്രസിദ്ധ
പ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.
It is every where reported that he is a good man.
ആ സാക്ഷിക്കാരൻ ൟ കാൎയ്യത്തെ കുറിച്ച കള്ളം പറയു
മെന്ന ഇനിക്ക തൊന്നിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
I think that witness will tell a falsehood about this affair.
In this example the present തൊന്നുന്നു may be used; but the sense
would then be, that such an opinion had just been formed: whereas in
the other case, it implies that the opinion expressed had been formed for
some time since.
PLUPERFECT TENSE.
104. This tense is formed by adding ഇട്ട and ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു, or
ഇരുന്നു, to the past participle; as,
| സ്നെഹിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. സ്നെഹിച്ചിരുന്നു. |
Had loved. |
This last form is occasionally used for the past progressive tense.
FUTURE TENSE.
105. This tense is formed from the present by changing ന്നു, into ം; as,
| Present. | സ്നെഹിക്കുന്നു. | Future. | സ്നെഹിക്കും. |
