1. ഒറ്റ ശബ്ദവും ഒറ്റ സ്വരവും അന്തത്തിൽ
ഒറ്റ വ്യഞ്ജനവുമുള്ള ക്രിയകൾക്കു ദ്വിത്വം ഉണ്ടാകും;
as: blot, blotted, blotting.
2. ഇരുശബ്ദമുള്ള ക്രിയകളിൽ രണ്ടാം ശബ്ദം
ബലമുള്ളതായാൽ ദ്വിത്വം ഉണ്ടാകും; as: remit, re—
mitted, remitting.
3. 1 അന്തമുള്ള എല്ലാ ക്രിയകളിൽ ദ്വിത്വം വ
രും; as: compel, compelled, compelling.
ഉദാഹരണങ്ങൾ.
The potatoes have rotted in the ground, because it
has rained so much. My father's coachman has robbed
him, therefore he has sent him away, for he does not like
to have robbers in his house. My brother deferred writing
his exercise till it was too late. Mr. L. remitted the
money for my journey. When we went from London to
Hamburg last winter, we travelled over Holland, because
the Elbe was full of ice. I copied my letter again, because
I had omitted several words. If you had been more care—
ful, you would not have blotted your copy—book. In every
copy—book you ought to have a piece of blotting paper.
