2. അസീമാൎത്ഥകമായ a, an (=ഒരു) ഏകവചന
നാമത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ മാത്രം നില്ക്കേണ്ടു; as: a man,
a tree. A എന്നതിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ വരുന്ന നാമം
ഒരു വ്യഞ്ജനംകൊണ്ടു ആരംഭിച്ചാൽ അതു മാറാതെ
നില്ക്കുന്നു; as: a town, a book. എങ്കിലും വരുന്ന
നാമം ഒരു സ്വരംകൊണ്ടു ആരംഭിച്ചാൽ a എന്നതു
an ആകും; as: an ox, an arm, an ointment. എ
ങ്കിലും സ്വരം ദീൎഘമായാൽ പിന്നെയും a തന്നെ
വേണം; as: a useful book, a European, a ewe,
a university, such a one. H എന്നതു ശബ്ദിക്കാതി
രുന്നാൽ അതിനു മുമ്പിൽ an വെക്കേണ്ടതു; as: an
hour, an honest man.
8. ഇങ്ക്ലിഷ് ഭാഷയിൽ കൎത്താവു എപ്പോഴും ആ
ഖ്യാതത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ നില്ക്കുന്നു; as: first we took
a walk, and then we went to school; when he
is ill, he is very impatient.
4. കൎമ്മം എല്ലായ്പോഴും ക്രിയയുടെയും നാമവി
ശേഷണത്തിന്റെയും പിമ്പിൽ നില്ക്കേണ്ടതു; as:
