Ex: rájávu, rájávin; kaṇṇŭ (=eye), kaṇṇin.

In some nouns the substituted-form is formed by du-
plication also.

Ex: áṭŭ (=sheep), áṭṭŭ; chór̥ŭ, chór̥r̥u (=boiled rice).

The substituted-form can be used alone.

Ex: avan 'akattŭ' chennu (=he went inside).

79. Can the signs of two different cases occur together
in one word?

Yes; in the case called the dative of locality, such
instances occur.

Ex: déšattilékkŭ, déšattékkŭ (=into the hamlet).

There are two principal declensions.

Some form the dative by adding 'kŭ' and then the
genitive affixes 'uṭe', others have the affix 'nŭ' in the
