My object in bringing out this a Malayalam translation of my Tamil books is to place before the Malayalam reading public, a simple book dealing with the different organs of the human body and their functions, in a style suited to the comprehension of four boys and girls. The translation has been done by BRAMASART VIDWAN VEDANTA VRSARADA K. A. LAKSHMANA SASTRAR AVL. of the Native High School Palghat under the guidance of M.R. RY. P. RYRU NAIR AVL. Lecturer in Sanskrit in the Victoria College, Palghat to both of whom I feel deeply grateful.
The subject is dealt with in three sections; the first section deals with the general facts of Elementary Physiology in as much detail, as is in my opinion, necessary for an understanding of the subject; the second section contains four lessons on the "Preservation of Health"; the last section treats of the "First Aid". for which I am indebted to M.R. Ry V. P. NARAYANA MENON AVL. Sub-assistant surgeon of the local hospital, who was kind enough to write the lessons for me in English and to go through the Malayalam translation of the same before going to the press.
My aim has been throughout to avoid, as far as possible, an abstract treatment of the subject and to show at every step, the bearing that the study of the different organs has on "Bodily
